  2. CPS, Mike's Bikes team up to bring bicycles to Africa

    Students at the College Preparatory School helped send 400 bicycles recently to Botswana, and this month, they'll unpack the bikes and distribute them among nurses in the African country. The bike project was created from a partnership between College Prep, a 340-student private high school in Oakland, and Mike's Bikes, a bicycle shop with several locations in the Bay Area.

  3. Host families needed for Spanish exchange students

    Thirty-five Spanish exchange students are coming to the East Bay this summer, and they need host families to provide them with places to stay. The students range in age from 14 to 17 and are coming as part of EMY, a Spain-based organization named for its founder. The organization sends 900 students to different parts of the world each summer.

    It’s been more than 50 years since Peter Dodge, B.Arch. ’56, FAIA, graduated from UC Berkeley. Since then, he’s been an architecture-firm principal, seen the College of Environmental Design’s formation, worked on LEED Platinum-certified projects, helped design Wurster Hall, and served as president of two different CED alumni organizations — three times.
