    Frank Acosta had been in the jewelry business for 20 years when his employer, DeVon's Jewelers, announced the closing of its Davis Commons branch store early this year. The chain offered Acosta, 39, a position at a branch store in Sacramento's Arden Fair Mall, but Acosta "didn't want to go back to the mall," he said.
