  5. Police Inaction Forces Business Owner to Pursue Thief Himself

    OAKLAND-When police said they wouldn't investigate a theft at his Temescal locksmith shop last week, owner Randall Reed took action. Reed, who owns Reed Brothers Security on Telegraph Avenue, arrived at work on Sept. 18 to find $800 worth of copper wire missing. The wire had been bolted to a welder and locked with a chain and padlock on one of the store's trucks.
